2010-11

IT is the policy of the Government to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in all Government offices.  Accordingly, Ubuntu (Linux) as Operating System for computers, Open Office / Libre Office as Office Suite, Content Management System such as Joomla are used in Finance Department.  The website of Finance Department  which was launched in 2007 is built upon Joomla CMS.  Training programmes on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) such as Linux (Ubuntu), Open Office, Content Management System – Joomla etc were conducted

2011-12

As part of implementing Official Language Malayalam in the digital environment, Unicode style of input is necessary in computers.  After testing many freeware software, our training centre had chosen ‘keymagic’ as the most appropriate software for Malayalam Unicode data entry.  This software is free and open source, light weight and supports both phonetic and inscript style of typing.  Moreover, this can be used in Windows and Linux with the same ease.

We had trained all the nominees of Kerala State Insurance Department in Open Office with Malayalam Unicode input techniques.

Training was given to the engineers of Harbour Engineering Department on Autocad in collaboration with Government Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram

2012-13

Unicode Malayalam training has been extended to more departments like Local Fund Audit, Treasuries Department, Department of Agriculture, etc.  From this year onwards, we use online nominations for course registration and SMS intimations to participants regarding the schedule and other details.

2013-14

Training programmes on EMLI – Unicode Malayalam training has been extended to more departments like Local Fund Audit, Treasuries Department, Department of Agriculture, National Savings Department etc.

2014-15

Unicode Malayalam training has been extended to more departments like Local Fund Audit, Treasuries Department, Department of Agriculture, National Savings Department, Harbour Engineering Department etc.

2015-16

Unicode Malayalam training has been extended to more departments like Local Fund Audit, Treasuries Department, Department of Agriculture, National Savings Department, Harbour Engineering Department, Insurance Medical Service, Factories and Boilers Department etc.

2016-17

During the year, special emphasis was given to provide extensive training on Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) to all stake holders.   Chanakya, the online learning management system was introduced and two batches had completed their course through this Learning Management System.
